Insula || Welcome to my mind

Zimi Mphefu is a third-year Theatre Making student at the University of Cape Town. She is a creative that identifies as an enthusiastic mover and writer and is highly interested in the politics of the Black body.

Insula is an embodied expression of anxiety and depression. Mental illness, especially for the Black body in Afrika, is often ignored and not treated with the care and urgency it needs. Insula illustrates how these mental illnesses eat away not only at our joy and quality of life, but also at our bodies.
