Great Texts/Big Questions: Masande Ntshanga, Mohale Mashigo & Lauren Beukes

The second lecture in the ICA's 2019 Great Texts/Big Questions series takes place on 28 February, with novelists Masande NtshangaMohale Mashigo and Lauren Beukes.

Masande Ntshanga is the winner of the inaugural PEN International New Voices Award 2013, and a finalist for the Caine Prize 2015. He was born in South Africa, and graduated from the Univeristy of Cape Town. There he completed his Masters in Creative Writing under the Mellon Mays Foundation. He has received a Fulbright Award, an NRF Freestanding scholarship, a Civitella Ranieri Fellowship and a Bundanon Trust Award. His work has appeared in The White ReviewChimurengaVICE and n+1.

Lauren Beukes is an award-winning, internationally best-selling novelist who also writes comics, screenplays, TV shows and  journalism. Her novels, including The Shining GirlsBroken Monsters and Zoo City have been translated into 23 languages and are being developed for film and TV.

Mohale Mashigo is an award-winning singer-songwriter, novelist, and former radio presenter. Her debut novel The Yearning won the 2016 University of Johannesburg Prize for South African Debut Writing and was longlisted for the International Dublin Literary Award in 2018.
