The ICA's final Great Texts/Big Questions lecture in this 2019 series takes place on Wednesday 20 March with filmmaker Nadine Cloete. The event will feature a 30 minute screening of Nadine Cloete's documentary, Story of a Small Town: Grabouw, after which Nadine will be in conversation with journalist & documentary filmmaker Yazeed Kamaldien.

The “Story of a small town” is a six-part series by Uhuru Productions that takes viewers to six different towns across South Africa to look at how much has changed, and how much has stayed the same. The series explores Mokopane in Limpopo, Howick in KwaZulu-Natal, Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga, Clarens in the Free-State, Schweizer-Reneke in the North West and Grabouw in the Western Cape. A third of South Africans live in semi-rural small towns; what does life in these towns tell us about our country two decades into democracy?
