On the Edge
Kevin Mdoka is a classical contemporary dancer with an enthusiasm for musical theatre. In 2018 he passed the Grade 8 Trinity College Performance Art Examination with distinction. He has trained with the Joburg Ballet and participated in an Asian culture intensive program in Thailand where he developed his passion for choreography. Professionally, his experience includes: concert dancing; a 2020 music video; MC/event host; modelling, and most recently Hansel en Gretel (a German musical) at Artscape. Currently a third-year Theatre and Performance student at the University of Cape Town, he hopes to complete his studies and continue developing as an artist and maker.
ARTIST STATEMENT:
On The Edge is an embodiment of my most prolific inner voices. This piece illustrates the consensus and oppositions of my mind regarding my dreams, usually fast paced and “on Broadway”. I invite you to experience a little glimpse of the pretty disasters that make me, me.
