Independent Curators International: Public Symposium

The ICA in collaboration with Independent Curators International (ICI) present a Public Symposium by the participants of the ICI 2019 Curatorial Intensive in Cape Town on Wednesday 20 November, 3-7pm at the Little Theatre, UCT Hiddingh Campus.

The Curatorial Intensive is a weeklong professional development program, which offers curators the opportunity to discuss, among colleagues, the concepts, logistics, and challenges of organising exhibitions, public programs, and other curatorial models. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Participants of the Cape Town Curatorial Intensive include: Sven Christian (Johannesburg, South Africa), Giulia Colletti (Palermo, Italy), Fatou Kiné Diouf (Dakar, Senegal), Innocent Ekejiuba (Lagos, Nigeria), Martha Kazungu (Kampala, Uganda), Emily Kuhlmann (San Francisco, CA), Obed Mokhulani (Gaborone, Botswana), Twin Mosia (Petrus Steyn, South Africa), Tatiana Rais (Bogotá, Colombia) Phumzile Nombus Twala (Johannesburg, South Africa), Phokeng Tshepo Setai (Cape Town, South Africa), and Simangaliso Sibiya (Johannesburg, South Africa).
 
The Symposium on 20 November -- open to the public -- will feature the exhibitions and curatorial proposals that participants have developed over the course of the Curatorial Intensive. The event coincides with the Infecting the City public arts festival, hosted by the ICA and curated by ICA Director Jay Pather.
