Professor Mamphela Ramphele will discuss “To what extent has our transformation process embraced the intimate in public discourse?” at GIPCA’s Great Texts / Big Questions public lecture series.

Mamphela Ramphele, former Vice-Chancellor of UCT and director of the World Bank, is an academic, author and medical doctor. Her involvement in political activism and academic research has positioned her as a highly knowledgeable and respected thought leader. Her Great Texts / Big Questions lecture will be introduced by UCT’s Vice Chancellor, Dr Max Price. The suggested background reading is Jonathan Jansen’s Knowledge in the Blood – another eminent academic, whose work deals with how South African students are influenced by a past they never lived and the social and political change after apartheid within universities.
